To and From Miami International Airport
Holiday Inn Port of Miami-Downtown is located just a little over 7 miles from Miami International Airport—a 15 minute drive without traffic.
If you need a lift, rideshare services like Uber provide transportation for between $16 and $30 one-way, depending on the size of the vehicle you need. A taxi will cost between $25 and $30, including tip.
Another option to get to our hotel from the airport is Miami’s public transportation system. Pay $2.25 and board the Metrorail’s Orange Line at the Miami Airport Station. Getting Around the City
Metrorail - Train Transportation
The Miami Metrorail is one of the cheapest, easiest ways to get around the city, besides ride-sharing and cab services. It’s $2.25 per fare, and trains run every 15 minutes between 5 a.m. and midnight, 7 days a week. While on the train, you’ll enjoy free Wifi, and better yet, it’s easy to navigate for an out-of-towner. Check out the simple map and see for yourself!
Metromover - Downtown Transportation
What’s even better than low-cost? Well, free, of course. Use Miami’s Metromover station when traversing downtown and get to all the major sites without paying a dime. It’s an electric, automated system with no drivers, but 21 stops throughout downtown Miami and Brickell. The hours are also 5 a.m. to midnight every day of the week, but on Friday and Saturday, hours are extended to 2 a.m. Additional operating hours are added for major events as well. Train frequencies vary, but you can expect a new car every two to six minutes.
Metrobus - Bus Transportation
If for some reason you can’t get where you need to go on the Metrorail or Metromover, don’t worry - the Metrobus has you covered. With more than 95 routes and 1,000 buses, only $2.25 can take you all over the city.
Cycle Around Town
You can rent a set of wheels 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days per year from Miami’s Citi Bike program. Locals and visitors alike can grab a bike from any of the solar-powered docking stations located throughout the city.
There are over a thousand bikes available for use, and more are added all the time. If you’re a frequent Miami visitor, a membership might be in order. For everyone else, an hourly rental is probably the best arrangement. It’s one of the most fun ways to see the city sights and reach your destination, while getting in your exercise for the day! The closest docking station is about 0.2 miles away. Check out the map on the Citi Bike website!
